Senior Associate At Flutterwave

Flutterwave is on the lookout for an accomplished Senior Associate or Manager of Risk Modelling and Decisioning to become part of its innovative team. The individual in this role will be pivotal in designing and implementing strategies around risk, compliance, and fraud decisioning, while ensuring a solid data infrastructure that enhances risk analytics and supports the company’s growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities:

Spearhead or assist in developing, refining, and maintaining rules and processes focused on risk, compliance, and fraud prevention across various products and channels from an analytical standpoint.
Lead data initiatives within the Risk & Compliance division, guaranteeing comprehensive, precise, and consistent data capture for analytical and reporting purposes.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of decisioning strategies, identifying opportunities for better utilization of vendor capabilities.
Seek out and integrate internal and external data sources to bolster risk and fraud mitigation strategies.
Drive efforts to automate and streamline risk management processes, employing advanced analytics and machine learning techniques when relevant.
Provide support for predictive analytics initiatives, either through hands-on modeling or as an analytical reviewer.
Work closely with teams across the organization, including Data Science, Product Management, and Engineering, to implement data and decision strategies in production systems.
Analyze and interpret data to uncover trends and insights that inform risk management strategies and decisions.
Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure risk management methodologies remain current.
Lead and mentor a team of risk analysts, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ongoing learning.
Collaborate with stakeholders to align risk management solutions with business growth objectives.
Support regulatory compliance by ensuring that risk analytics and decisioning strategies meet relevant guidelines and regulations.

Required Skills and Competencies:

A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, etc.) is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
Over 5 years of experience in risk/fraud strategy/analytics, rule and data management, or related analytical roles within the financial services sector.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and other statistical analysis and programming languages.
Familiarity with risk/fraud management frameworks, methodologies, and regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Experience with predictive modeling and data analytic tools, such as logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting, and neural networks.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Proven leadership abilities, including managing and mentoring a team of analysts.
Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior leaders.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across functions and influencing outcomes.
