At Hyatt Place Nairobi Westlands & Hyatt House Nairobi Westlands, we are looking for Hostess and in this role you will be the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their dining experience. Primary responsibility for this role will be to ensure seamless and positive interactions from the moment guests enter the restaurant until they depart by providing them with courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service that supports the outlet’s operating concept, brand promise and Hyatt International brand standards. You will be expected to always provide exceptional customer service by effectively handling guest reservations, inquiries, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become well-versed in all food and beverage items featured on the outlet menu.
  • Maintains all F&B menus and ensures they are always clean and in good condition. Communicate with the team leader if further action is needed in this regard, such as replacement of torn menus.
  • Efficiently use the outlet’s point-of-sales and table assignment system following established procedures.
  • Display flexibility in accommodating special requests from guests, such as specific table assignments or other preferences.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance area and host/hostess station at all times.
  • Accurately manage and update the restaurant’s guest history system.
  • Work in a supportive and flexible manner with fellow employees and other departments.
  • Handle all operating equipment and supplies with care to minimize damage and reduce wastage.
  • Assist in service when needed and perform any other duties assigned by team leader/Manager.
  • Computes bills, accepts payments, and performs cashier duties.
  • Verifies cash received and credit card validity, adhering strictly to finance policies and procedures.
  • To ensure that you deliver the brand promise and always provide exceptional guest service.
  • To ensure that you also provide excellent service to internal customers in other departments as appropriate.
  • To handle all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.

Qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma in Food and beverage service from a recognized Institution or its equivalent
  • At least 1 year experience in a similar role in reputable establishment
