United Nations Population Fund Announces An Open Vacancy

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a highly qualified Programme Adviser for Data and Population Dynamics within its Programme Liaison Branch, located in Nairobi. This is a P-5 level, fixed-term appointment with an application deadline of 03 September 2024, 5:00 PM (EST). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in global partnerships, policy advisory, advocacy, and strategic engagement related to data, analytics, and population dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure integration of data and population dynamics within global development agendas, including SDGs.
  • Engage in intergovernmental processes, partnerships, and advocacy related to data and population dynamics.
  • Collaborate closely with UNFPA Regional Offices, UN agencies, member states, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to influence global advocacy and policy decisions.
  • Lead resource mobilization efforts and represent UNFPA in high-level forums and events.
  • Generate and disseminate knowledge, evidence, and policy briefs to inform global advocacy and decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced university degree in demography, sociology, population studies, public health, statistics, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in data, population dynamics, and development, with at least 5 years at the international level.
  • Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills, extensive experience in intergovernmental processes, and proven networking capabilities.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
