Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, is offering a range of internship opportunities in Nairobi, Kenya. The positions available include roles in engineering, food and beverage, IT, kitchen, purchasing, front office, sales, marketing, and gym operations. These internships are designed for recent graduates or students who have completed their coursework within the last year.

Engineering Trainee: Interns will work under the supervision of the Training Manager and Departmental Trainer. Responsibilities include ensuring mechanical technicians adhere to working hours, performing preventive maintenance, and supervising technicians. Interns will also handle minor electrical installations and maintain equipment.

Food and Beverage Trainee: Interns will learn about all services and products offered by the hotel, monitor supplies, and ensure cleanliness. They will also handle guest inquiries and complaints, operate the POS system, and adhere to hygiene and safety regulations.

IT Trainee: Responsibilities include routine and emergency technical equipment maintenance, providing technical support to guests, and maintaining AV equipment. Interns will also manage database systems, solve IT problems, and ensure data security.

Kitchen Trainee: Interns will maintain product knowledge, prepare and cook food, and ensure kitchen hygiene. They will also assist with inventory management and monitor kitchen costs.

Purchasing Trainee: Interns will manage department contracts, maintain records, and liaise with the accounting department. They will also analyze purchasing data and trends.

Front Office Trainee: Responsibilities include checking in and out guests, handling guest inquiries, and maintaining front office cash transactions. Interns will also coordinate with the housekeeping department and maintain product knowledge.

Sales Trainee: Interns will support the sales team, maintain inventory, and assist with direct mail campaigns. They will also compile monthly reports and coordinate sales trips.

Marketing Trainee: Responsibilities include creating and implementing marketing plans, maintaining guest databases, and promoting hotel services. Interns will also coordinate with internal departments and external agencies.

Gym Trainee: Interns will perform spa treatments, maintain treatment rooms, and manage professional stock. They will also conduct fitness assessments and create workout plans.

All positions require a degree or diploma from a recognized institution, excellent communication skills, and a positive learning attitude. Interested candidates can apply through the company’s website by September 15, 2024.
