Watu Credit Limited, a rapidly expanding non-bank finance company, is on the lookout for a Product Manager, Strategic Partnerships (Payments) to join their team in Nairobi. The company, known for leveraging technology to offer unsecured lending primarily through mobile services, aims to become the leading provider of inclusive financial products across Africa.
Role Overview
The Product Partnerships Manager (PPM) will play a pivotal role in identifying, developing, and nurturing strategic alliances that drive growth and innovation for Watu. This position demands a deep understanding of the fintech industry, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to negotiate and close deals that create value for both parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Payment API Integration: Manage payment API integration projects across all key markets and monitor performance and key task delivery timelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with existing payment partners to resolve issues and maintain clear documentation of access credentials, implementation details, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and assess potential strategic partners, evaluate the benefits of forming partnerships, and lead negotiations with senior stakeholders to establish mutually beneficial agreements.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing partners, serving as the primary point of contact.
- External Engagement: Establish the Watu product team’s external ecosystem engagement strategy, including participation in key industry events, conferences, and tech communities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the fintech or telco industry. They should have a proven track record in product management, partnership management, and business development, with senior-level engagement and relationship-building skills.
